PUGS!!!!!!

As you may, or may not, be aware...I am kind of obsessed with my dogs.  So much so that my twitter is @LifewithPugs.  I know, it's a strange thing to be obsessed with but look at their little faces!!!

When we were little mom always said pugs were "...so ugly, they're cute!"

And since I've never really dedicated an entire post to them, I felt it was time to do so.  Prepare to be pugged.

Michelangelo is named after the Ninja Turtle!

This handsome pug is Mikey.  He will be four years old in May.  He's pretty much the laziest pug until something catches his attention...and then he just looses his mind and starts barking and jumping and, well, his nickname is Crazy.

Miss Molly Sue loves this bone she stole from mom's lab/pitbull mix!

This little girl is Molly Sue Nesbitt.  Yes, she has a full name.  We adopted her when she was about 9 months old and Mikey was about 4 months old.  He needed a friend and she needed a home.  From the minute we took Molly in she was loving and snuggly and very playful!  She's got a huge personality and she's pretty smart...for a pug.

Now, why am I posting about my pugs?  Well, because they're kind of like my children (Yeah, I'm one of THOSE people.  But it's not as bad as you think!).  Mr. Dan and I love these little guys.  They've got huge personalities and they're so affectionate.  They are cool with just chilling on the couch but they're also always game for playing with a toy or going for a walk.  They get along with EVERYONE.  Dogs, cats, birds, parents...EVERYONE.  And they're just so goofy.  Sheldon comics can explain better than me...these are real life happenings.  Trufax, even!

Anyways, it's a weird bond but I'm okay with it.  And so is Mr. Dan...

A day at the beach

In Nova Scotia there are 4 seasons, like most other places, but they are not any determined length, they are not set at a certain time of year and they will come and go as they please we are *hopefullly* just getting out of the Rainy Season (we're also in Construction Season...it overlaps numerous other seasons...) and into our short 2 months of summer.

When the rain finally stopped on Sunday, Mr. Dan and I realized that it was hot and sunny outside and we knew it wouldn't last long (or if it did last long it would be through the work week and then rain again next weekend).  So we jumped on it and took the pugs to a beach near our house.

Now you must understand this: Nova Scotia may not be the warmest place on earth but it has AMAZING white sand beaches, the BEAUTIFUL Atlantic Ocean and HARDCORE waves.  Yes those caps were necessary.

So now, for your enjoyment I present:
A day at the beach...with the pugs.
Off on our journey, Mikey is leading Molly

The beach is just down that hill!

The beach!!

Beautiful!

Mikey was scared of the water.

Molly loved it!

But it wouldn't come to her...

Time to go home

She was exhausted
Pooped!

I owe you applesauce. But first I want to talk about Pugs.

And I will deliver, I promise, but first I need to tell you that I won't do it now.  You'll have to wait until this evening because the pictures are on my camera which happens to be dead.  So until the point where I show you these epic and delicious-ness inspiring pictures, you must be content with me.  Lil ol' me.  And my life.  But isn't that why you're here? (Yeah, you, that one in the back...the only one here! I see you!!)  So let's do a quick life update:

Hectic.  One word.  That's what my life is right now.  I've been running on little sleep, taking cold medicine to keep my nose from running all over my desk and just trying to make it through the last week or so.  We've had our biggest event of the year at work, and it went off without a hitch.  Now is the time where I fall down dead tired and sleep for 3 days.  But wait, it was on a Saturday and so I got one day off and now I'm back at the grind.  Oh my.

Anyways, no time to rest - I've got more to do.  This weekend is PUGAPALOOZA!!! Woohooo!!!!!  This is an event that we (Pug Pals of HRM) have once a year and it raises money for the local SPCA in Halifax.  This year I'm taking the reins of organizing the auction for the day of the event.  My living room is full of pug like goodness as well as gift certificates, spa baskets and other goodies.  All things that you can bid on at Pugapalooza!!  Our last meeting is Friday, with the event on Saturday, and it's going to be great.  We're doing a Halloween theme so all the little pugs will be dressed up and I'm sure it'll be a scream! (hahaha, pun intended)  I'm very excited and hope we can raise at least $2,500 for the SPCA.  So if you're interested, or just want to know more about Pug Pals of HRM pop over to our Facebook page : http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=7570946538

Playful Pugs

Today I present you with a video (we made it on Dan's iPhone! Very cool!) of Mikey and Molly playing with a pop bottle they found at the baseball field.  It went on for close to 20 minutes and it's pretty hilarious.

Enjoy...

EDIT: I apologize for the sideways video.  I'm not sure how to fix that.

Pugs, parks and ponds

It was a lovely evening tonight so we decided it was a great opportunity to take our pugs, Molly Sue Nesbitt and Michaelangelo (aka Mikey), to the park.  Mol has a bunch of bug bites from her weekend adventures so we thought it'd be nice to go somewhere with a beach.  Shubie Park offleash beach area sounded like it fit the bill.

So we piled into the car -  Molly, Mikey, Dan and I.  We came aimed with my trusty pink camera, treats, a towel and lots of bags.  Our walk into the park was uneventful, so you really don't want to hear about that but what you will want to know is that when we arrived at the beach there were so many big dogs Mikey cowered behind Dan and may, or may not, have peed a little.  I'm not talking big like black labs, I'm talking big like there was a Newfoundland Dog, a Bernese and 2 Saint Bernards.  BIG.  Molly was unfazed by these big dogs.  We took off their harnesses and the next thing you know she's chasing them around and running through the water.
OHMYGOD I FOUND THE WATERRRRR!!!!

Now where, you might ask, is Mikey?  Well kids, Mikey doesn't believe in getting wet.  Infact, when it is wet outside Mikey will walk around picking up his paws and shaking the water off them.  He dislikes getting wet so much that he refused to even put a paw in the water.  This is him looking unimpressed as I try to snap his picture...

Go away, Mom.
So with Mikey standing on the edge of the lake, refusing to swim and refusing to play with any other dogs Molly dove in and started swimming, chasing other dogs and trying to steal balls from oblivious beach-goers. After an hour Molly was done and ready to head home.  She was tired and wet but VERY happy...

How was your evening?
