I wish I was in Disney..

So I'm supposed to be in Disney right now.  I'm supposed to be running a 5k tomorrow.  But I'm not.  Really, the motivation for this trip (aside from the getting in shape thing) was to see my girls!  There's a whole group heading to Disney this weekend, most are there right now, and I REALLY wanted to go.  I really wanted to spend the weekend with the ladies, some of whom I've met and some of whom I haven't.  But alas, I am not there.  So instead I want to say...

GOOD LUCK LADIES!!!

I'm so proud of you ALL! I can't wait to her all about your adventures!

Windowshop Wednesday

I bring you a treat tonight, dear reader, tonight I will be making my SECOND POST OF THE DAY! ZOMGWTFBBQ?!  That's right because tonight it's time to link up with Katie, over at The Katie Chronicles, to do:

Yayyyy! So today is one of my favorite stores: Old Navy!  Now my version may be a bit different than the other ladies doing this because I will be shopping at oldnavy.ca not .com.

Enjoy!

Let's start off with this short sleeved open-front cardigan.  Love it for work or the weekend.

I was actually going to buy this ruffled jersey babydoll top  when I was
at Old Navy last week...but they didn't have my size!

I have a few of these cropped cardigans and I LOVE them!
I think white would work well with that last top.

Judge all you want but here's something else I've had before...these wide-legged cropped yoga  pants are WICKED.  They are the most comfortable things I've ever owned and they do wonders at the gym!

Last, but not least, we need a nice pair of flats.  These peep toes are super cute!

Friday Follows: Yes, I stole this from Twitter...

I think as bloggers we all need to stick together, so I propose that I will start a "Follow Friday" (and yes, I stole this from, and do this on, Twitter).  Each week I'll pick a blog that I love and tell you why I love it.  Sound good?  Well, good because you have no choice in the matter.

Today's Friday Follow is one of my favourite blogs (written by a good friend of mine) :

First off, Katie tells it like it is.  She doesn't mince words and has no problem telling you exactly what she thinks about a topic - and I like that.  From her blunt stand on the moronic-ness of Sarah Palin (I think we can all agree here) to her desperate love for Alexander Skarsgard, Katie is direct and honest in each of her posts.  And she's funny as hell!

She's got a great section on recipes (all tested on her willing husband) and I assure you that EVERYTHING in that recipe section is delicious!  If you're looking for something really yummy I'd suggest her Smoked Gouda and Prosciutto Mac and Cheese or her Margarita Cupcakes.

Honestly, I think she has one of my favourite blogs to read because I know I'll get a good story, a great recipe or a hearty laugh.

Thanks Katie!!

Key Lime Pie

So the wonderful Katie, over at The Katie Chronicles, sent me a delicious treat recently.  Lots of her yummy spice rubs, some utensils, recipes and deliciously wonderful Florida key lime juice!! So naturally I've been dying to use the juice and what better way to do so then making KEY LIME PIE!!!

ZOMG okay, it's amazing...so just stay calm and enjoy!

Key Lime Pie

Ingredients:
- 14 oz of sweetened condensed milk
- 4 egg yolks
- 3.5 oz of key lime juice
- zest of 1 lime
- graham cracker pie crust (if you need this recipe please go here.)

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350.
Blend sweetened condensed milk and egg yolks.  Slowly add lime juice and zest.  Blend for about 2 minutes.
Pour mixture into graham cracker pie crust.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Allow to cool then place in the fridge for several hours.
Serve topped with whipped cream.

Cupcake Fever!!

I blame this all on The Katie Chronicles, but lately I have an obsession with cupcakes!!!

Funny thing is - I don't like cupcakes that much!  I'll have one every once in a while but I just make them because they're fun and pretty.  This weekend I had a BBQ/bonfire to attend.  I decided I would bring some of Katie's delicious margarita cupcakes.

It was really hot, and my slime green icing started to melt BUT they turned out deliciously.  So good, in fact, that I made more!! I'm hoping to move on to pink lemonade cupcakes next.

Cooking with class

I don't think I'm a horrible cook.  I can whip up a meal in good time.  And I have some  tested and true receipes that I follow.  Dan, almost, always likes what I make for dinner and I've heard few complaints from guests that stop by.  However, I'm leary of trying new things in the kitchen.  I always enjoy new tastes when I'm out, but ask me to cook it and I'm going to freeze.  I can take my old recipes and adjust them...add more of this, less of that, throw in pork instead of chicken, etc.  But brand new flavours make me nervous.

So last night I challenged myself.  I wanted to try something new, something different.  So I made Katie's Mustard Baked Chicken.  (I must confess that I've made the chicken before just not the pasta...and I only put a LITTLE of the paprika last time.  I was ascared!)

So how did it turn out, you ask? WONDERFUL!!  The chicken was delicious (this time I followed the receipe to a T) and the pasta (with some grilled veggies) was delicious!  I think I'm on the road to new adventures in the kitchen.  But we'll see...
